Photo by Syrian traveler Hussain Ibish, who was accompanying faculty from the American University of Beirut (AUB, my alma mater) to a trip to the Syrian desert in 1935. I am sure the AUB library has a lot of hidden treasures about this period and part of the world.

Err yes I saw the title after I asked the question doh!!, I asked because the headwear of the lady on the left looks a little inpractical to pack for a nomadic tribe so I wondered if the tribe were settled or not, then fashion has never been practical!! lovely embroidery.
Looks like very good pasture.

you’re spot on, they are semi-settled sheep herders, as evidenced by the lush Euphrates pastures behind them.
