  1. I found this years sales list as well http://www.fnarc.nat.tn/cat_vente2013.pdf, at first glance about a quarter to a third of the horses could still have clean pedigrees but the Manganat’s and Amer’s are also prominent.

    Btw what did the “revolution” do to local horse breeding? Has it been preserved or not? Friends of ours went on vacation to Djerba and said most shops were closed and felt unsafe to wander outside the resort

    1. Dynamite II, ca. 1920 (Hamdani x Tayyara), to Sidi Thabet SBF Volume 21, states “de race Hamdani Simeri”. Imported in 1928, Bay.
    2. Tamerlan, a Dahman, to Sidi Thabet, imp. 1910 Born 1902, imported first to Tiaret, Algeria, with a number of foal crops there until 1915, went on to Tunisia later where his first foal crop was born in 1920. He died in 1921.

    35. Krali, to Tiaret Chestnut, born 1883. SBF Vol 7 does not give import date, it states “de race Kohelan-Kerouche”. He had only 2 recorded foals, both born in 1893, the chestnut colt Papillon ex Fahema and the bay filly Primevere ex Mabrouka.
    36. Dohendjilar, to Tiaret Grey, year of birth not recorded, name also spelled Dohenjitar and Dohendgilar. Imported in 1876. SBF Vol 9 states hise sire & dam were: “de race Syrienne” and “de race Ouednan-Hersani.
    37. Cherifa, Shuwaymah Sabbah, bought from the Sba’ah Bedouins, to Tiaret, born in 1869 Imported in 1875, bay.

  3. You are welcome Edouard, spellings are as in SBF (presumably phonetic Arabic to French?). Just email me if you need anything else, I have photocopies of all the early SBF volumes (equivalent of GSB). I also have all their progeny lists of purebreds, as you know a lot of the Arabian stallions, especially the earlier imports, were also used in their cavalry horses breeding programmes. Best wishes!
