”However, Kalifa Sr. in Denouste’s pedigree (e.g. the mare Case) has a black hole. Many horses in the pedigrees of Kalifa Sr. do not appear anywhere in the French Studbook. We do not know who these horses are. Before we do, you cannot consider him Asil.”
I found Kalifa 1870 and Kalifa 1845 pedigree in the “Haras Nationaux” website, all the horses appearing in their pedigree are registred in the French Stud book until 1815.
The mare Case 1856 has not a black hole as you can see. All her ancestors are registred in the French Stud Book as below.
According to the informations you gave us about the two Kalifas’s and Case 1856,it seems that the only ”Black Hole” against Denouste is his sloping croup !!
As for the Two Kalifa ’s the same information appears ,both of them are registred in the French Stud Book

Maybe these infos about “Kalifa 1845″ will help.I quote:
“She was bred by M.Bonnecaze in 1845.Her dam was “Meleha”,a bay born in Pau in 1831.Meleha’s sire was “Berk”OA and her dam was “Asfoura” OA who was foaled in Syria in 1825.Asfoura’s sire was “Pacha”and her dam “Nedjdy” and she was imported to Pompadour in 1830,transferred to Pau and sold in 1843″.
