  3. Interesting. My initial reaction was That does not look like my previous impression of French breeding, there must be Egyptian in it. And indeed there is.

  5. Yes, Michael the Egyptian ancestor is Ibn Fayda I, 1925 chestnut full brother to Ibn Fayda who is the grandsire of Sameh. For the first Ibn Fayda (I), All Breed Pedigree Database has the wrong photo. They one they have is the second Ibn Fayda, the bay stallion. The first Ibn Fayda (I) is chestnut with one white hind sock and a blaze to the muzzle. I have a photo of him. He is much more like his sire Ibn Rabdan in appearance. I do not have a ABDB account so I cannot correct the photo.

  6. that second Ibn Fayda was indeed a gift from Prince Kemal el Dine Hussein to the Tunisian government, and was stationed at Sidi Thabet Stud, where he sired a lot of good mares..

This was also the case of other Egyptian stallions, including Ragheb (Tuhotmos x Rakia) in later years.

  7. Saadi belongs to a far cousin of me Doctor Herbault, wellknown breeders for jumping. He did not want to sell it but Italian buyers insisted so he gave a very high price and Italians was ok so he accepted ! In despite of it morphology its blood was very good. Its production was very good too.

  8. If it is Saadi on hereabove photo. It was very fat so it is difficult to juge. Saadi had a very hight croup like is father Ourour. That the reason why it seems that it’s back could be qualified as “dos mou” and bad attached which was not the case at all.

    Guillaume.
