Three different types

Belle (top) looks the most deserty of all my horses by far, and has the longest ears, Jamr (middle) has the crested neck of his Crabbet ancestors, and Wadha has the most “classic” head and largest eyes of the three. And there is only so much a smartphone camera can do.

  1. Beautiful, big sockets eyes, big nostrils, very funtcionnal heads they have short backs and enough bone. These horses represent the ideal Arabian that speaks the poets of the glorious past.Congratulations Edouard

  2. After looking at these head studies, it occurred to me they are rather like a “evolutionary timeline” of the Western influence on the Arabian head structure, stopping short of the “seahorse” look of the halter show horse of today.

  3. It certainly can be seen that way but I don’t think that these actually do represent a progression, in fact, I think that all three types would have always been found in the Arabian population. All lovely, they are all a thousand miles from a seahorse head. Having a straight profile is not, as Lady Blunt rightly states, a defect but to be fair neither is having a dish!
I find very extreme heads repulsive but the ‘classic’ dished head is quintessentially Arabian and surely should be appreciated as much, (but not more) than a lovely head with a straight profile.
