Viola, 1971 Hamdaniyah Simriyah, USA

The Hamdaniyah Simiryah mare Viola (Prince Hal x Cressida by Sir) was bred by Craver Farms and is the maternal grand-dam of Vice Regent CF (Regency x Violetta by Salutation x Viola). Vice Regent is the stallion I chose to bred my Saqlawiyat al-‘Abd mare Jadiba (Dib x Jabinta by Jadib) t0. Not sure who deserves credit for taking this photo, but it’s an awesome one. It is also featured on the DAHC website where I took it from.

Bedouins believed that a long, think forelock just like Viola’s is a sign of great asalah (authenticity) in Arabians.

  1. I am surprised that no one has offered comments on this lovely mare. What really got me was the prominence of the bone in her face. The width of the bone is so impressive!!!

  2. I love her sculptured face and gentle expression. She reminds me of our line in the UK! Has she Gulnare in her pedigree?

  3. Do you have any more information on the Hamdaniyeh Simriyah strain?
We have a two mares of this strain here on our stud in South Africa and Id love to know more about them. Our two mares have some common facial features to Viola as well, same coat colouring, prominent cheekbones, long thick forelock
