1971 Kuhaylah Jallabiyah from Bahrain
In 1971, Judi Forbis took this beautiful and timeless photo of a Kuhaylah Jallabiyah mare in Bahrain, the daughter of an old speckled Jallabi stallion. The photo was published in Arabian Horse World, in Judi’s series of articles “Pearls of Great Price”. The croup is short as in many Bahraini horses, but otherwise, what a mare, what look. She oozes Arabness. When will be go back to breeding horses like this, instead of the china dolls and ‘living art’ of today? And, this is by far my favorite color in Arabians.
She is beautiful, and manages to look both ethereal and yet strongly built at the same time. (I really, really like the Bahraini horses.) And I love how freckled and flea-bitten she is!
I agree. There’s something timeless about the speckled Arabian mare. She looks both dainty, but robust, and I’ve always loved large-bodied Arabian mares – veritable tanks, forces of nature and nurture.
the mix of confident and humble, too.. an ode to the specked Arabian mare..
Q: “When will be go back to breeding horses like this, instead of the china dolls and ‘living art’ of today”?
A: i)When the judges of the morphological competitions (now they are called shows!) will be not traders of westerners Arabian horses.
ii) When the handlers will not be a mafia in charge of changing the fashion so often of westerners Arabian horses.
iii)And when they stop selling to the unsuspecting those “china dolls” in millions of dollars.
A lot of time is unfortunately missing. Nothing new I have unfortunately written.
A vision of my own perfection. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I have no better words than PERFECT <3
The “mashoosh” (speckled) is my favourite colour and I love how the speckles keep getting darker with age.
