Foundation horses at the Al-Arab Stud
1. Wisteria (CF)
Grey mare, born in 1995; by Triermain CF out of HB Wadduda by Mariner; bred by Craver Farms; strain: Kuhaylah Haifiyah, tail female to *Reshan of Homer Davenport. 100% Davenport bloodlines. Beautiful head and eyes, good shoulder, deep girth, a certain style and distinction like nineteenth century litographies. Hip length wanting. One of the two prettiest mares at Craver Farms, during a visit with my father in 2002.
Acquired in 2007 from Charles Craver during the dispersal sale of Craver Farms, for 6,000 USD. A 2006 foal at her side by Javera Thadrian, named Walladah CF, went to Anita Enander.
April 2010: foaled a grey filly, Wadhah al-Arab by Javera Thadrian. Strong, well-built filly. Retained for the stud.
September 2011: foaled a grey colt Wadd al-Arab by Triermain CF. Beautiful colt. Gifted to Jessie Heinrick of Burns, OR.
April 11, 2012: Wisteria CF was sold to Kathy Busch of Missouri, for 3,000 USD. She did not produce anything for Kathy, and has died since.
2. (Javera) Chelsea
Chestnut mare, born in 1987, by Thane out of HB Diandra by Mariner; bred by Janet Brown Chiesna; strain: Kuhaylah Haifiyah, tail female to *Reshan of Homer Davenport. 100% Davenport bloodlines. Deep, strong bodied mare, beautiful round croup, high set tail, deep girth. Large soulful eye. The quintessential broodmare
Leased in September 2009 from Doris Park, in old age.
2010: barren to Javera Thadrian, failed attempt at a full brother-to-sister mating.
2011: barren to Triermain CF through cooled semen.
2012: barren to Triermain CF through cooled semen.
April 2012: sent to J. Maiyer for embryo transfer, but no ET was tried.
October 2012: returned to Doris Park.
August 2015: Chelsea was put down at Doris’ after a colic. A great loss.

3. Jadiba
Chestnut mare, born in 1988, by Dib out of Jabinta by Jadib; bred by Wayne and Rosa Cunningham; strain: Saqlawiyat al-‘Abd, tail female to *Wadduda of Homer Davenport. 87.5% Old Crabbet bloodlines. Long hip, sloped shoulder, deep and long body, some style. A personal favorite.
Acquired in June 7th 2011 from Annette Pattishall in PA, for 3,000 USD, thanks to Monica Respet who “found” the mare.
Friday July 13, 2012: foaled a dark chestnut colt, Jamr al-Arab by Vice Regent CF. Weaned early Excellent colt though small.
July 2012 shipped semen from Portico (Dharanad x Portia). Semen dead on arrival. Mare last observed in heat in July 2012.
2013: barren to Monologue CF.
2014: barren to Monologue CF.
Retired in Christmas 2014 and given away to a parent of Monica’s. In March 2018 heard Jadiba had died in the summer of 2017.
4. (Dakhala) Sahra
Chestnut mare, born in 1985 by Plantagenet out of Soiree by Sir; bred by Jeanne Craver; strain: Ma’naqiyah Sbayliyah; tail female to Haidee of Roger Upton, through Drissula. Rare old American pedigree. Tall, strong, pretty and very stylish. Said Charles Craver: “More like Plantagenet than Plantangenet himself”.
Acquired in September 2011 from Kathy Bush for 300 USD.
2011: while still in the ownership of Kathy Busch, barren to Triermain after an attempt at artificial insemination.
2012: barren to Triermain CF through live cover at Craver Farms.
April 2012: sent to J. Maiyer for embryo transfer.
2013: barren to Monologue CF, after a failed embryo transfer at J. Maiyer’s.
Sent to Pennsylvania where most of my other horses are boarded.
October 2013: Sahra had to be put down after a series of strokes. No luck with her.
5. Bint al-Barra
Chestnut mare, born in 1991, by ASF David out of Mystalla by San Luis Jacob; bred by Patricia (Trish) Stockhecke of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada; strain: Kuhaylat al-Krush, tail female *Werdi of Homer Davenport. Substantial mare, long bodied, long hip, plain head.
Acquired in 2011 from Patricia Stockhecke and transported by Pamela Klein to Pennsylvania.
2012: Barren to Aurene CF, who Pamela Klein brought to Pennsylvania to breed the mare.
Moved in 2012 from Pennsylvania to Charles and Jeanne Craver, then to Kim Davis. Given away to Kathy Werking on Dec. 18th 2013. Died in ?
6. Cinnabar Myst
Chestnut mare, born in 1992, by ASF David out of Mystalla by San Luis Jacob; bred by Patricia Stockhecke of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada; strain: Kuhaylat al-Krush, tail female to *Werdi of Homer Davenport. Lighter than her sister (above) with a longer back, but otherwise also long-bodied, long hip.
Acquired in 2011 from Patricia Stockhecke with her sister and and transported by Pamela Klein to Pennsylvania.
Moved in 2012 from Pennsylvania to Charles and Jeanne Craver, then to Kim Davis.
2013: Foaled a rich dark chestnut filly, Mayassah Al Arab by Clarion CF. Long bodied, long hip, close to the ground, more depth than dam, some style, a lot of character. Born at Kim Davis and sent to Cravers on July 2014.
Given away to Kathy Werking on Dec. 18th 2013.

7. Thalia (CF)
Grey mare, born in 1992, by Javera Thadrian out of Bint Dharebah by Monsoon; bred by Craver Farms. Sold to — or to someone who sold her to — Fred Brewster of Virginia.
Acquired at 23 years old in November or December 2015 from Fred Brewster and transported by Jeannie Lieb to her home in Carlisle, Massachusetts for treatment for Cushings disease and laminitis. A foal is a long shot given her age and condition.
June 2016: Sent to Aida Schreiber for breeding to Khurafaa Dhaarebus, Thalia’s son. Dhaarebeus would not breed Thalia.
May 2017: Barren to Wadd Al Arab.
Given away in mid-2017 to a forever home in Pennsylvania.

Leased from Laura Fitz in October 2018, then acquired from her. Laura had acquired her from Kim Davis who had obtained her from Trish Stockhecke at the same time that I obtained her two sisters (above) from Trish.
2019: barren to Jamr Al Arab.
2020: barren to Monologue CF.
2021: barren to Monologue CF and given away to a forever home on June 15, 2021.
Heard later that Nuri had been caught in a bog and died from exertion trying to get out of it.
