Is anyone still breeding Babson-Turfa horses?

This was once one of the largest and nicest groups of Al Khamsa Arabians in North America.

  1. I would love to put together an article about them for the Khamsat. They were such an important part of the Al Khamsa community of 50 years ago. They were just good all-around, attractive and kind horses.

    1. I know Jacquie Peregoy is keeping track of them and probably has THE most up to date list on them. Might be worth touching base with her.

    2. Hi Jeanne,

I hope this finds you well.

I can give you valuable historical information about Manak, a Hamdani of the family of Ibn Ghayam. Which was gifted to King Saud. Manak Breed was orgiinally and exclusively bred by the family of Ibn Ghayam in Nejd, part of Almutairi tribe.

      1. Is this the same horse as the Manak who went to England? That Manak was the great-grandsire of two important stallions in South African Arabian breeding, both still found in performance and endurance horses today.

  2. Hello, Mohamed,

I am well, and apologize for not seeing your comment until now. I would love to have any information you have on Manak. The stories behind all the desert Arabians are of interest to me, and that certainly includes those that come from the Sa’ud connections directly.

    Thank you for writing!
