Shamsah as a weanling
Shamsah Al Arab (Cascade DE x SS Lady Guenevere) is the Ma’naqiyah filly I had been planning for several years. She has her dam’s very dark chestnut coat color, strong build, short back, and … short neck. Pictured here with her dam running behind her. Photo DeWayne Brown.
She really is a chip off the old block. Also, I do love the liver chestnuts who are so dark they have almost a purple sheen, like a plum.
Wonderful colt he promise to be a future stallion. These are true arabs,
She is quite the solid looking filly. I really like her dam and Shamsah appears to be a good representative of her dam’s production.
Shaman’s neck looks good, but the video of him is too fuzzy to share here.
Sorry,she Is an amazing filly!!
I know it’s the inevitable nature of time’s onward march, but I can’t believe that’s the little filly I saw last September who was hiding from me. She looked really solid then, and continued to look like a small tank. Who do you envision breeding her to? (Part of me sees a modicum of appeal in a cross to Jamr, just for the tank factor haha)
She will first go to Wadd who is near her in Oregon. I am trying to recreate the cross that Jeanne Craver had with and Sabiq and Soiree (Sir x Sirrulya by Julyan). Maybe Jamr later or her brother Shaman.
Edouard don’t sweat her neck.. He knees won’t close to till- what 32 months or so.. After that her forearms and point of shoulder will calcify, with her withers solidifying at about 60 months- so hehr cervical verterbrae should take their final form at about 3 and 1/2/ to 4 years.. And you know immature horses can change a heck of a lot..

Bruce, maybe she will but look at her dam’s neck..
I remember Deb Bennett mentioning, regarding overall balance of a horse’s body. You can visually “bend back” the horse’s neck over their back. If the neck is long enough to reach the sacrolumbar joint, the neck is long enough, particularly on a short backed horse, and both mother and daughter are short backed.
Even so- a slightly low set neck is not the worst thing.. They, horses w/ slightly low necks can do very well at cross country jumping- and they can drop down to cut and sort cows like nobodies business.
