Stunning “Syrian Stallion” from Tiaret, Algeria
An absolutely superb male specimen of a Desert Arabian horse, in Algeria. The legend says “syrian stallion”, yet so far I was not able to match with him with any of the grey stallions the French imported to Algeria from the East.
Not Bango, not El Nil, not Sidi Gaber, not Aziz. If you know him, let me know. Photo courtesy of Farid Chaoui, of Algeria.
I sure hope you are able to identify him. He is of a type with *Muson, in my opinion.
Hello Edouard, any time frame included with the photo to help understand who this gorgeous boy was?
No idea. Farid Chaoui must know (on fb)
Our friend Yacine (not Yassine Jamali, who is from Morocco), the veterinarian at Tiaret, who follows this blog, researched grey imported stallions from Tiaret from that period, using the studbooks of the time. Here is what he found:
Most photos in this collection, Yacine tells me, were taken between 1890 and 1900. There are more imported greys in the studbook, from that time, but Yacine says his copy is not always readable.
