Both the new Gallery and the Saudi-sponsored exhibit are marvelous. The Saudi-sponsored “A Gift from the Desert” includes 408 pieces from 27 museums and collections in 20 countries. It begins with rock carvings from 5000 years ago and goes up through contemporary art. It is indescribable (fortunately there is a complete catalog prefaced by 90 pages of historical material). The Al-Marah gallery is nicely done, with so much information it is overwhelming. Two of the Davenport hujjah are there, together with historical pics from the 1893 world’s fair and TONS more. Too wonderful for words.
