  1. As you may have noticed all the horses are tall horses for Arabians. When I saw iraqi horses WAHO registred, coming from Al Nujaifi farm near Mosul,I noticed also that they were tall horses.Dr Mabrouk from the RAS noticed the same in 1936.This despite the fact that the horses bought by El Haddad were coming from non -Iraqi sources,Rualla ,Sbaa,Hail’s Shammar(Al Rashid) all of them with no presence in Iraq.
The Al Rashid who were not in good terms with the Iraqi Shammar (Al Jarba).
So the small Arabian we are use to see is not the rule ,Europeans missions were looking for big strong Arabians.
Luckily I breed this kind of Arabians as my stallion is 1.57cm and my mares, all of them, except one, are more than 1.55cm tall

  2. This is is really interesting as sometimes I hear people suspecting lack of purity when seing big size.

I love this blog. I am reading it regularly.

  3. It’s a collective effort, really. I plan to have more guestbloggers, once I resolve some technical issues. But I am glad you like it. Tell your friends about it too! The more participants the better.

  4. I forwarded the link to a friend of mine who answered this

“I noticed on the Haddad blog that there were references to the Al Nujaifi family horses in Mosul. They are one of the breeders in that city.(snipped) I was recently corresponding with one of the family – Mohamed – who is currently racing some of the Al Nujaifi horses in England and France. You can see his site in Arabic below.

A few photos of his horses above.”

I wish I could understand the comments!

  5. My dear Christine

The comments are as disapointing as the horses .the Nujaifi horses are no more “Pure Iraqi horses”Mohamed Nujaifi and his brother Khalid ,both friends of mine, imported French ,Russian, Stallions and French mares and mixed them with Iraqi mares and stallions. In their stables there is few “Pure Iraqi Horses” left, on the other hand the story of “Pure Iraqi horses” is another “Story”

  6. Oh I’m sorry. I should not have posted this. No idea what the words mean, I can’t read Aarabic. I loved to see them ride their horses though!
