Excerpts from the Al-Dahdah Index
The Al-Dahdah Index is a work in progress that lists the most important Asil and non-Asil Arabian horses of Lebanon and Syria in the XXth century. Many of the progeny of these horses were exported to the USA, or to other countries like Egypt or Turkey.

I have recently completed a book describing my grandparents’ journey from Mount Lebanon to Chicago to work at the 1893 Colmbian Exposition.
I would like your permission to cite “Daughters of the WInd” as a source of information about the Hamadie horses in both the chapter notes and the bibliography.
I have also cited Suzi Morris’ Into the Sands of TImes.
I was able to contact Jeanne Craver, but I have not been able to contact Ms. Dirks.
The name of the book being published next year is From the Mountain to the Midway.
With my thanks,
Ellen Metrie Koppel
by all means, Ellen.
Hi Ellen
I’m very psyched to have just ordered your book. I have always wanted more details about the Arabian horses in this exhibition and other details. I have a keen interest in Arabian horses and history as my uncle was Preston Dyer from Hearst estate.
Thanks for writing this book!
