Fedaia — Jilfa Dhawi mare
I just fell upon the photo of this superb younger mare of the Jilfan Dhawi strain from the breeding of Fabienne Vesco. Fedaia Beni Sakr is a blend of mostly Egyptian, Tunisian and Algerian bloodlines, with a hint of old French blood. Such a deep girth and nice hindquarter on this mare, on top of pointy ears and the black skin around the eyes.
She is a lovely mare, and her pedigree is an education for me in bloodlines I have not yet learned much about.
Scrolling through that pedigree, I like every photo in there. Obviously good breeding.
I do have a weak spot for Tuhotmos, as he features heavily in the breeding of the family of Arabians that first introduced me to the breed as a real tangible thing (rather than the hypothetical of The Black Stallion.) I have to agree with Jeanne – the photo roll of horses featured in the pedigree is fantastic.
And the filly is her 2018 foal, Eshaal Beni Sakr, sired by Dahess Hassaka, who I believe was imported to France as well as owned by Jean-Claude Rajot. What a fantastic cross. I love the Beni Sakr horses so much!
Her grandsire Fawzan has a very nice angle on his hip– He could actually get underneath himself and carry a rider, unlike so many flat top horses today. Its reminiscent of Bint Samiha, Nazeers dam.

I like this picture, I took it just a few hours after Eshaal’s birth. Fedaia is a war mare, but also a wonderful Mom
