I may be wrong, but I believe this was actually taken in 2012 during a visit to the New Albion Stud. Carol Mingst posted the photos in 2020 during the pandemic and was asking for help to identify horses – I suppose she hadn’t gotten around to labeling them, and couldn’t remember them all.
Fragrance really is a lovely mare. She would have been 15 in this photo.
ok will fix that; i thought she looked young for 2020
She’s got a wither, and a lovely length of rein. The gentle arch in her tail carriage is attractive too.
Oh thanks, that carries me back. I should have bred that mare every year.
She was one of the prettiest, most elegant mares we ever bred. Not saying there weren’t others, but she was real class, from beginning to end.
She really looks it and so do her sons and daughters I have seen.
As was her dam, her maternal granddam, and so on in the tail female line. A combination of El Alamein (Dhareb/Antarah) in the sire line and Antan (Antez/Gamil) as a dam line. And a few other choice ingredients in between! But we had really good luck with that line, and other branches of it as well.
Wonderful mare!!!
