Hart Asheera, 1986 Saqlawiyat al-‘Abd tracing to *Wadduda
This is Hart Asheera (Rafeer x Nisrs Asha by Ansata El Nisr), a 1986 Saqlawiyat al-‘Abd bred by Sheila Hart, and owned by Megan Detweiler, who is the lady in the picture. Click on the picture to enlarge it.
This lovely mare is a cousin of my Jadiba, as both their great-grand-dams come from Fred Glass’s old breeding program which was centered around the mare Serije (Letan x Sedjur by *Hamrah).
There is a relatively large group of Saqlawiyat al-‘Abd horses who trace to *Wadduda through Sahanad (Abu Hanad x Sahabet by Tanatra x Jadur by Jadaan x Sedjur by *Hamrah) via Jadur, but Hart Asheera and Jadiba are the only two left tracing to the other branch through Jadur’s sister Serije.
Asheera is Megan’s favorite riding mare, and I wish she could leave her with a last foal, a filly this time (she had two colts who were gelded).
Rafeer was bred here in Taos. Rafaar was a Pritzlaff colt that I owned. I also owned Rafisa………..also Pritzlaff. Bert Kempers, is listed and credited as the breeder. My choice. We had become friends……..I did the same with thirty-plus other foals. Never saw the need
to claim others interest.
Both sire and dam were fine horses. Rafaar was similar in many ways to Tripoli. Tripoli was much more complete! But Rafaar was a very interesting fine, only let one person ride him. Never let any one else stay on his back, except the kittens that were born and lived in his stall. He, Rafaar, sent Nancy Searle, off his back the most. She never could understand why, as he was a very sweet and gentle horse. Although he did run Richard out of his area, here in Taos. Too many stories!
Hope the mare gets bred and foals! Maybe your mare will have a filly and this mare a colt? Then you can bring the foals together at a later date?

Thanks for sharing that information, Jackson. Asheera is still teaching young children and adults at 25 yrs, while Megan is in A-stan. Megan & I drove to OH to visit Sheila Hart Brown & both Rafeer & Nisrs Asha the year before Rafeer ran over the rainbow bridge. We are contemplating ET for Asheera, since she conceives readily. Thanks for sharing Edouard, about this line & your mare as well.
I can’t say it enough: i just love this mare.
November 30, 2013 Hart Asheera passed over the rainbow bridge from cancer. Megan was due home from Afghanistan 3 weeks later. We were sad she couldn’t say goodbye. We tried to get her in foal in her later years, for another Arabian replacement and she conceived readily, but couldn’t maintain a pregnancy. We are happy that she has an Anglo Arabian daughter, MSF Country Lane ( King Shamong TB 22/12/10) to carry her line forward in Anglo Arabian, as well as American Trakehner. Hart Asheera, I believe, is the only Asil Arabian, to date, to be inspected and approved in the American Trakehner Stud book. Both Asheera & her daughter are approved to improve horses in that breed association.
I am sorry to hear that. That was a special mare, and of the very few Al Khamsa tail female mares tracing to *Wadduda outside the Sahanad line.
