Photo of the Day: En Pointe CF
Edouard’s posting of the mare Afaf reminded me strongly of En Pointe CF. She is a 1998 chestnut Kuhaylah Hayfiyah, by Triermain CF out of Pirouette CF.
The first photo gives a better sense of her style; the second of her conformation (although note that she’s not standing on level ground, so don’t be fooled into thinking she’s butt-high; she’s not. Blame the photographer. *raises hand*)
The background for these photos is Homer Davenport’s childhood home, Geercrest Farm, in Silverton Oregon. They were taken in 2006 during preparations for “Davenport’s Arabian Quest”, a “living history experience” retelling the story of the importation for busloads and busloads of visitors.
She is simply stunning. Does she still have that busy personality?
This is one of my favorite Davenport mares..
I don’t know that I would call her busy; she is always alert to any change in her surroundings, though.
She was being started under saddle while her filly, ADA Lionne, was quite young. John and Heather decided to have Lionne held in the center of the ring while En Pointe worked. This ring is full of jumps, of course (they’re eventers). One day Lionne very busily knocked over a jump standard and didn’t even flinch at the crash. Heather reported this to me, adding “THERE’S your eventing prospect!”
