Hello, to anyone that can help me. I am from Malta and I owned a very old horse that is said to have come from Sidi Thabet. He was shipped to Malta together with a shipment of other Tunisian horses around 30 years ago. My horse was more Arab looking. I was wondering if there was anyone who would be interested to help me trace my horses history. This may prove difficult as I have very little information on him and I have no papers, only rumors and stories of the locals. He was used in polo games when he was first brought to Malta. what was his name Khalif?
His name was Khalif (hence my nickname). He was a deep red chestnut, with a white stripe on face and one right hind white sock.His mane and tail were very blonde in colour. I don’t know who gave him the name khalif. I also know that he was with another horse called Sultan at the polo pitch. If I am correct they came together from Tunisia and they were inseparable many years ago. I’m sorry if I am not providing adequate information, but I really don’t have any. I think this may be a long shot task but worth a try.I would love to know his origins and bloodlines. I can perhaps forward photos of him. Thank you for your reply and for your time.
The Arabian Datasource shows a 1979 Khalif bred at Sidi Thabet, but that horse is registered as bay.
1979 sounds about right but wrong color. I think this may be a tricky one to solve, like I said I have very very little information on the horse. All I know is he did come from Tunisia, the Maltese people all say he is a horse of Sidi Thabet. This could also be incorrect information. His first career here was as a polo horse and after that he was in a riding stable where I looked after him and rode him since I was 14.I am now 32. It would be great if I could send some photos to anyone who is willing to have a look. Many thanks for the correspondence and what a beautiful blog to read. Khalif
