Rabdaan Muttaawi 819, a Bahraini gem

The late Danah Al Khalifa sure knew how to pick stallions for her Sitah-linebred mares. Georgous Rabdaan Muttaawi (Musannaan Al Meemar x Rabda Shaawieh by Burkaan D3) is just one example. He is the sire of the two full sisters Danika and Dhahabiah, bred by Danah. Dhahabiah is the one that died last week, sadly.

“Always been fascinated by the purebred desert horses for their history, tradition, and equestrian prowess.
The history of the horses from Bahrain is captivating.
Although not an avid fan of endurance riding, I’ve tried to spot Bahraini horses in international competitions, and indeed, riders from the island do compete with them. However, I get the impression that these horses aren’t typically used for high-intensity endurance racing.
I find the breeding program you’re undertaking with Mr. Doyle truly fascinating and wish you both immense success.”
A Bahraini-sired mare, Saruk Donatella (by Tuwaisaan 406), finished twelfth at the Endurance World Championships in 2021; I don’t know of any straight Bahrainis or half-Bahrainis other than her at the FEI championship level, but there may well be.
