“The Archives of the Arabian Horse” Facebook page
I recently started a Facebook page in Arabic, “The Archives of the Arabian Horse” (different from the US outfit “Arabian Horse Archives, Inc.”. I did it most because I was tired to see photos and entire blog entries from this blog openly plagiarized by a rising generation of Arab bloggers and social media influencers, most of whom only care about growing their followers and getting paid for it. They really are from a different midnset and do not abide by the same code of conducts as the tight-knit learning and research-minded community here on DOW.
I confess that I enjoy writing for Western audience a lot more but feel a responsibility to have this online presence in the Arab world. That’s because I found that the greatest gaps in knowledge — and practice — about Arabian horses now comes from within the Arab world. Lots of interest and curiosity and lots of pride (including about admitting lack of knowledge), and lots of high-bullshit content from commercial and marketing-minded Western sources.
I learned my lesson so the new photos I publish on this new Facebook page are now watermarked. I am republishing these entries back here on “Daughters of the Wind”, just to keep everything in one place, and because I really dislike how Facebook and other social media outfits archive and search for information. DOW stays on.
I appreciate all of your efforts and the knowledge that you share with all of us. How may times have you pushed me to think deeper about this breed and in doing so, encouraged me to keep going. I am so grateful. A million thanks Edouard.
Thank you for your own important contributions and nice to hear from you!
