Three Asil stallions at Antique Arabian Stud
Edie Booth of Antique Arabian Stud, Canton, Texas, just posted this video of three of her Asil stallions on the comments section of this blog. The black stallion is AAS al-Sakb, and the grey one is AAS Enan. I don’t know who the third one is. [Update Nov. 18, 2008: Edie Booth tells us the third horse is AAS El Hezzez]
Oh! I’m sorry I did not post who is the third stallion…
He is AAS EL HEZZEZ. He is the son of IBN TAAMRI, the second generation of TAAMRI X BINT AMIRAA.
He is very special because he holds the blood of only the horses imported by Sam and Elizabeth Roach, TAAMRI, RUDANN, HALWAAJI, and AMIRAA. (AMIRAA, even though the foal of HALWAAJI, brings another line from the Kingdom who was never imported, the stallion, Mahsud) Halwaaji was already bred to Mahsud when she left Al Kharj.
So he retains all of the Al Kharj blood…. We also have three mares who are only this group.
AAS ENAN retains the blood of only JALAM AL UBAYAN and SINDIDAH…. thus his name.
Also I noticed the picture you posted as IBN TAAMRI is actually the son of IBN TAAMRIs brother, TAAM-RUD. It is IBN TAAM-RUD and his dam is one of the full brother /sister crosses of the son and daughter of JALAM AL UBAYAN and SINDIDAH. This picture of IBN TAAM-RUD with our son Thomas is taken in the same place as another excellent picture that is of IBN TAAMRI. It is possible I mixed this up for you myself at some point, since it is in the same place and they resemble each other…. although IBN TAAMRI was more stout. If you know it is on a web site, please tell me so I can correct it. I supply pictures, but do not build the seb sites, so errors may also occur that way.
There exists such a picture of IBN TAAMRI, that I can look for and scan if you like (on the week-end.) He was a magnificent horse— a real breath of the desert.
Re: Ibn Taamri’s picture: Please do send it so I can post it.
The picture of Ibn Taamrud was in my photo album, labeled as Ibn Taamri. Not sure if I mislabeled it myself or whether this is how it was labeled. Did you take it yourself (to ensure proper credit is given)? I corrected the entry.
