Turf in his new home yesterday

Notice the intelligent eye, large without being oversized, and the dry and bony face, with flat jowls, not meaty. Also note the very delicately chiseled arch of the throat. All these features are hallmarks of the breed.

  1. He really is a handsome stallion. It’s funny because I actually consider jowls like his to be fairly rounded — there are a lot of halter stallions that have what I consider truly flat jowls, mostly because of the way the entire undercarriage of their jaw has been bred for a narrow winnowing to the teacup muzzle. To me, this a horse who shows the delicate refinement of a beautiful horse aging into his bone structure while also retaining the characteristics that allow you to know at a glance that he is, in fact, a stallion.
