  1. Have never seen this before. What a great photo.
Jeannie, you are holding out on us. How about sharing all of the photos you have of the up-close ancestors of 25 Amurath Sahib and her daughter 3 Siglavy Bagdaday VI.

    Thanks,
    Tzviah

  2. Oh, Jeanne! What a glorious photo. He looks as if he just stepped off the most artistic merry-go-round ever created.

  3. Unfortunately, by the time this horse stood at Babolna, there were hardly any mares of his own kind left to breed to him. There were the full sisters 30 Kuhaylan Zaid I and 21 Kuhaylan Zaid I, who both produced foals by him, but they traced tail-female to 30 Maria.

The asil mare 5 Siglavy Bagdady V was in production at Babolna through at least 1969, but perhaps the management did not want to breed together two offspring of Siglavy Bagdady V? Instead, 5 SB V was bred to Shagya stallions, to Koheilan XI, and to the Polish stallion Cargo.

That left just 25 Amurath Sahib. My understanding of her production record as printed in the 1972 Babolna stud book is that she was not covered 1957 to 1964, produced two fillies by Siglavy Bagdady VI (in 1966 and 1967), and then Siglavy Bagdady VI went to Barthahus. The next three years, 25 Amurath Sahib was bred to Koheilan XI (one colt, one filly, one barren year), then starting in 1970 she was put to the imported Egyptian stallions.

  4. Yes, the same information appears in the 1997 Stud Book. From 1970 on it is recorded that 25 Amurath Sahib was bred to Farag, Ghalion, and Ibn Galal I.
She went on to produce two colts and one filly by Farag. These include the heavily used stallion Farag II and his full sister 20 Farag. A 1973 colt by Ghalion called Ghalion-6 or “Amman”, was sold to West Germany in 1977. She was bred to Ibn Galal I but remained barren.
