*Wadduda’s grandsons and great-grandsons

Almost ten years after I became acquainted with the horses descending from the 1906 importation of Homer Davenport, one of the many things that still astonish me about them is the relatively large number of the grandsons and great-grandsons of *Wadduda (one of the stars of the importation, with *Haleb and *Urfah) who rose to prominence by becoming major breeding stallions at a time when the Arabian horse population in the USA was very small.

Here is a list of grandsons:

— Antez (out of Wadduda’s daughter Moliah);

— his half-brother Dhareb;

— their half-brother Mustakim (Oriental x Moliah).

— Jadaan (out of her daughter Amran);

… and great-grandsons:

— Akil (out of *Wadduda’s grand-daughter Sedjur);

— Hanad (out of her grand-daughter Sankirah);

— Kasar (out of her grand-daughter Fasal);

— his half-brother Salan;

— their half brother Caravan.

Wow.

Below is the grear sire Caravan (Ribal x Fasal by Hamrah), at 32.

  1. No living Davenports or Davenport Bradley’s what a loss!

    No more Urfah’s either!

    The dam lines are so very important, but look at whats happening to Turfa. Perhaps, saving what we have now have is whats important. Hopefully time will be kind to these rare tail-female lines.

    Thank goodness Al Khamsa still has Wadduda in other forms
    of Tail female. Fred came close to saving them for the Davenports. A great effort!

    I hope this blog will lead the way in a world effort to highlight what needs to be done. I know you are trying
    Edouard. Thanks for starting again the dream!

  2. The line to Caravan (Ribal x Fasal) in Al Khamsa died in the 1990s.

    Fortunately there is a chance to recreate the combination that he is one example of, by combining horses heavy in the blood of his sire Ribal, such as the Doyles, with horses heavy in the blood of his dam Fasal, such as the Davenports.

  3. There are still more, of course, like Sedjur’s sons Saraband and Najur, and several other sons of Sankirah although Hanad was her most famous.

    Then there’s *Wadduda’s daughter Domow, all seven of whose sons were used for breeding, and whose grandsons included the spectacular Ybarra.

  4. We have just recently acquired a lovely Blue Star mare that is 14x’s to Turfa. She is a great mare. You can do anything with her. Broke to death. Has had four foals and all by Polish bred sires. We will breed to replace her DB hopefully or at least to a Babson. Can anyone help us find a Blue Star Stud with lines to Turfa. Many thanks, Steve
    P.S. We are in Oregon

  5. Does anyone know of any Blue Star, Davenport, or other ‘sharp’ combination stallions located in Michigan? I am looking for a non-Nazeer, minimal Egyptian blooded horse for possible breeding. Thanks!

  6. Thanks, Ambar! But, I am looking for a horse to breed my Mlolshaan daughter to! Whomever I choose will have to be extremely special.

  7. In reference to Steve Langer/Terry Brooks…..we raise BLUE STAR Arabs and know of others. Mine are heavy in Turfa lines. Would like to hear about your mare.
