Bahraini race video

This video sent along by Talal Farah shows a race held in Bahrain between a part-bred Arab horse from Lebanon and a Bahraini mare owned by the Bahraini ruler. The part-bred, a grey owned by famous racehorse owner Mahmud Fustuq, is Bahr al-Hadi, who sired a good deal of the Lebanese part-breds. He was very handsome.

The Bahraini mare is a Kuhaylah Jallabiyah.  See how she overtook him in the long run, after he led on a short distance.

  1. I am wondering about that, myself. Something in this video has reminded me of when I was much younger (and so was my mare Watermelon), I used to watch WM initiate pasture races against her friend Jet, who was a racing-bred F1 appendix Quarter Horse mare (TB x QH), and Jet always had the edge on early speed, but eventually Jet would tire, and WM would continue to run circles around her.

  2. The Joint Cornell- European and Middle East ( with the co-operation of the Iranians) study found that Arabs – that are real Arabs- posses post extreme exertion physical recovery metabolism having to do with zinc processing, if I remember correctly. I could be dreadfully hashing this up, but I’m not sure if the study found that the racing arabs that they studied- in which they detected Thoroughbreds comprising up to 60% of the horses genome- were found to have the zinc slash distance slash extreme exertion recovery- ,” second wind,” metabolism processing complex. Its too bad the studies authors didn’t give seminars to the Arabian Community explaining their research in detail in non scientific language so that the Sport horse community could make use of it to truly improve the learning ability of their prone to tiredness block head warmbloods. If they produced a horse that was easier to train life would be better.
