A note about my social media

I wanted to say here that I have deleted all my Facebook and Instagram horse accounts, and that I am doing very well without them, thank you. While they were a great way for people to reach out, the knowledge value gained from them was minimal, but the annoyance was not.

I am as likely to learn about a never-seen photo, a new piece of information through this blog or by email that I am likely to find out about it on social media. Also, young people (almost exclusively from the Arab world, where there is no respect for intellectual property rights, I am sorry to say) have taken to pilfer this blog’s posts as well as my social media publications and republish them under their names, which I found very annoying. I choose not to see that. I am keeping my Messenger account for private exchanges. To hell with the rest.

This way, I will return to writing more on this blog, which I always found rewarding and stimulating.

  1. So sorry to hear that, but fully understandable. Your posts, comments and knowledge will be missed on fb. It gets worse and worse on fb with cheating, stealing content and changing photos with AI. I always appreciated coming here and see REAL pictures of horses without photoshopping.

  2. I have liked Facebook for connecting with people, but I think it’s such a poor alternative for farm websites, archival websites, forums, etc. It’s too ephemeral and I feel like I’ve watched the utility of the search function nosedive in real time. It really does feel like a lot of what I miss about the old internet has been killed by algorithmic social media.

Wise choice on your part, I think.
