Sakhir and Rifaa palaces in Bahrain, 1926 – Royal Geographical Society images

Sir Ruper Hay, a British political agent in Bahrain two these two photos for the UK Royal Geographical Society now part of Getty Images archives online.

The top one is captioned: ”The ruler of Bahrein’s Palace, Rifa’a, Bahrain, circa 1926, and the bottom one: The palace of the late ruler of Bahrein at Sakhir, Bahrain, circa 1926. Of course, horse breeders will recognize these names as the sites of two historical studs of the rulers of Bahrain (cf. Jellaby Al Sakhir, named for being the premier stud there, or Dahman Rifaa, a.k.a. Dahman III)

The Sakhir Palace was fully redeveloped in the 1990s, as you can see from the below video, also from Getty Archives:
