That’s a nice-looking mare; I get the impression from this photo that she was solidly built with a powerful hind end. A little gobsmacked that a 1971 foal had Fadl and Turfa as grandparents!
It has been awhile since I dropped in on the DOW blog but it is always a pleasure. When I saw this picture of *Hadriyah it immediately rang a bell that I had seen it decades ago, It first appeared in the Breeders Service Bulletin, Spring-Summer Special Issue 1977, produced by Jeanne Craver. This image appears on page 31 in a lengthy, very interesting, transcribed article from the 1977 Al Khamsa Convention in Waco, Texas. The article provides the comments from a panel discussion. Panel members included Diana Marston, Carol Lyons, Walter Schimanski, Ruby Perdue, Lisa McCracken (Lacy), and Don Hartzell. Those were the days — great memories of preservationist gatherings.
