British Arab Horse Society Studbook (Vol. 6) entries for six desert breds from Najd and Bahrain

The six are *Turfa, Faras, Nuhra, Bahrain, Kasim and Manak. Nuhra, Bahrain and Manak were from Bahrain, *Turfa, Faras, and Kasim were from The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (or its predecessor entity pre-1932, the Sultanate of Hijaz and Najd).

  1. Manak was a Sa’udi horse, not a Bahraini.

Interesting to see that Turfa’s first recorded owner in the UK is Brigadier Anderson, and that there is no connection to the British royal family in the stud book. I wonder what the source of the story that she was a gift for the then-Princess Elizabeth is.
